Its tough bieng a paragon, I unluckily chose it as my main. I thought it would be exciting bieng a class almost no one plays, but i was sorely mistaken.

I found myself crafting my own builds, with no help from the GW community unlike the other classes, as almost all the builds out there you could think of yourself. This class has a severe lack of noteable builds other the Tof tank, parathumper, and SF spammer, which all arn't too "godlike" at all.. Theres nothing that competes with the RoA thumper, the 55 monk, the Rit Lord, and shall i go on? (theres nothing that even gives the paragon a clear position in the battle field, as our class is shattered b/w deciding if they are best as healers, attackers, buffers, or all of the above)

Apparantly someone out there made several godlike builds, as the paragons have been nerfed incredibly in the last update. This is probably due to the use of paragons in the upper tier of pvp, where a small minority of those controlling HoH and the "GvG champions" found ways to manipulate the shouts of paragons so much that it ticked the devs off.

Well why arn't we seeing those builds? If anything they should have bumped all of paragon's skills up so that more people would like them and that better builds could be found.

mabye there was no godlike build and the "elites" simply used paragons to make godlike "team" builds, which is a possibility...

(btw dont flame this post b/c of something like claiming Tof para is not godlike (which it isnt in pvp), thats not what this post is about)

there teambulids, not individual builds like one would use in normal pve.

basicaly started with incoming being on 4 paragons or something, so it was effectivly kept up perminantly (half damage) then with watch yourself, stand your ground etc aswell (halfing armour respecting damage), combined with attack buffs, healing and spiking a target with spears that do reasonable damage made them pretty uber..

Actually, I found creating my own Paragon builds easy and created a build very similar to Zinger's ToF Paragon, way before I saw it on Guru/Wiki. And like you, I chose the Paragon over the Dervish. -.- Bad choice, but too late now. But, if you want to see the builds that people are using in PvP, mainly those used in HA or GvG, go to Observe Mode and watch some matches. Oh yeah, write down their builds.

there is no godlike builds with any profession.....effective ones yes... but not 'godlike' if they are overpowered they get the nerf stick...

in that respect the para has yet to find its 'non-team based overpowered build'

Alright, I challenge you then.

Go to an area where there are no healers. Play with skills until you can solo the area.

There, you've made your "God Build".

All of those builds are majorly flawed, such as VwK failing when there are healers, 55 dying around enchant removal. Spiritspam getting one interrupt and being screwed forever :P

Every class has a niche, and you abuse this to make the build work.

I'd assume having a para with its healing finale on, then using spear attacks and GFTE, etc to maintain healing and increase damage would do the trick. Don't forget Agressive refrain.

the paragon is not and never has been a solo character type... (neither has the monk....and thats why 55 monking is all but dead)

My paragon has one decent self-healing skill, but otherwise I mainly rely on healers to help me out.
If there was more decent self healing, with all my heavy damage spear stuffs, i could solo some lower level PvE areas.

But yea, not exactly a solo class altogether.

Paras best bet on solo self-defense is generally the tactics line. You have enough AL to use healing signet, and soldier's defense is near-constant blocking. At best you'd be playing a slightly poorer warrior though, none of the para's skills are particularly good solo.

As mentioned, the PvP builds are teams of many paras. They all benefit from attack buffs, they all spam GftE triggering chorus of restoration and purifying and restoration finale an obscene number of times on everyone who is attacking with spears, they all have good armor which is important in PvP where there is no aggro to manage, and you can't remove or counter most of their buffs at all.

8 Paras plus 2 KD wars, a remote Orders, and (maybe) an LoD monk would destroy The Deep in a way the slow-as-molasses Steel Wall doesn't. Who cares about teleporting oni when none of them can hurt you or escape your spears, who cares about pulling when you can totally ignore the no-spellcasting, no-enchant type environmental effects, and everyone in your party is a tank.

the problem with that is the lack of pve paragons....especially ones that have gotten that far into factions
